Thornapple Kellogg Schools will be well represented at the Odyssey of the Mind state finals with eight teams advancing from regional competition. The state finals are hosted at Thornapple Kellogg Schools on March 15.

TK Alum John Garner created this video showcasing some of the many things that make Thornapple Kellogg Schools such an amazing school district and a great place for families to call home. Garner used his talents to skillfully pull together video clips including interviews with students, parents, alumni and teachers as well as images of the beautiful facilities, classroom learning and school activities. Clara McKeown fitted plastic straws together while teammates connected toothpicks with putty. They were all working on the same challenge - to build bridges that could span different distances between tables. They were given a limited number of simple supplies - a pencil, rubber bands, straws, toothpicks, putty, some paper clips, sheets of paper and a couple of paper cups. They were also given limited time to plan and then only 6 minutes to discuss plans and then build.

The Thornapple Kellogg Board of Education welcomed interim superintendent Tom Enslen along with three new board members at their Jan. 13 board meeting.

During an imagination warm-up activity before the new year, a room full of Thornapple Kellogg Middle School sixth-graders helped a visiting author make up a whimsical story about a boy, some pigeons and supernatural sticky mud.

Chloe Tobias closed her eyes, laid her head in her hands on her desk and listened to the calming sounds of wind chimes. The TK middle school student said the sound made her happy and she felt calm.

With lights flashing, a Barry County Sheriff’s deputy led a Thornapple Kellogg school bus and van on their way to make a very important delivery Thursday afternoon.

The Thornapple Kellogg Board of Education is beginning the search for the next superintendent to lead the district. Please read the information about the search and join in taking the community survey. The survey is open now and will close at midnight Feb. 9. Thank you for your support of the Board as they take on this important task.

It took 19 rounds of spelling words before the TK Middle School 2024 Spelling Bee Champion was crowned and a worthy opponent earned the runner-up title Friday morning.

In 2019, voters in the TK School District approved a $42.8 million bond. Now, in 2024 the promises made for those bond funds have been kept.
